GF Chicago Restaurants

The following Chicago area restaurants have gluten free menus or offer gluten free items.
This list is constantly updated

This list is compiled based on restaurants that offer gluten free menu options. This list does not guarantee that there will not be cross contamination in the restaurant's kitchen. As we learned with Domino's Pizza, not all restaurants handle the issue of gluten as seriously as others. Just as you would at any restaurant, don't forget to ask questions, make special requests, or even speak with the chef.

Quick selection: American, Bakeries, Barbecue, Cafes, Catering, Chinese, Diners, Ethiopian, French, German, Greek, Hawaiian Fusion, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Lebanese/Mediterranean, Mexican, Sandwiches, Seafood, Spanish Steakhouse, Thai, Vegan/Vegetarian, Vietnamese, Fast Food

  • Meli Cafe and Juice Bar in Chicago (Greektown and River North) (Gluten Free Pancakes!) *Eat with caution. A Gluten Free Betsy reader, comments, "My wife and I walked about 2.5 miles specifically to eat breakfast at Meli's based off of the list.  While they do offer some gluten free options, they take no other conditions into consideration such as contaminated cook or counter space.  Further, when asked to prepare eggs in separate pan so they would be of the griddle where everything gluten is prepared, they could not accommodate.  This is very serious especially when you are dealing with an individual with an actual problem and not one that is attempting a fad diet."

Secondly, they have a separate cooking center and chef (at least in the Bolingbrook location) for those with allergies and gluten-free concerns, to avoid cross-contamination.  We had a pleasant experience and my wife was very satisfied."
