Come Trick-or-Treating at my site!

Halloween is just two weeks away. Are you ready? I'm not. I still gotta find a costume! (Anybody have any good ideas for me?)

One thing I am ready for is the candy! When I was diagnosed with celiac disease I was very, very happy that most candy is gluten free. I worked in a candy store at the time and I was still be able to eat about 95% of the products. I was okay with having to pass up cakes and cookies, but it would have been very difficult to give up chocolates or caramels.

Some candies are obviously unsafe for the gluten free dieter such as Kit Kats, Take5, Whoppers, Twix, and Crunch Bars. Others may seem safe, like Twizzlers or Airheads, but they do contain gluten. Always check labels!

Sure Foods Living has a great list of candies and which allergens they contain. If there are Halloween parties at school, be sure that your child's teacher has this list from the NFCA. It lists safe candies AND snacks.

To help make things a no brainer, Enjoy Life Foods has three chocolate bars that are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and nut free! boom CHOCO boom bars come in:
  • dairy-free rice milk
  • dairy-free rice milk with crispy rice
  • dark chocolate
You can rest assured that your candy bar is safe even from cross contamination as all Enjoy Life products are made in a dedicated nut and gluten free facility and are certified gluten-free by the GFCO. They are allergy friendly, and do not contain wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg or soy.

They are also incredibly delicious! Last week when I attended the University of Chicago's annual celiac screening, the Enjoy Life table was giving out their boom CHOCO boom bars. I shared one with my 4-year old nephew and he LOVED it!

Enjoy Life Foods wants to make sure everyone has a very Happy (allergy free) Halloween and are offering all three varieties of their boom CHOCO boom bars to one lucky Gluten Free Betsy trick-or-treater!

I think you should go as Wonder Woman! Then again, I tell almost every single attractive woman who asks me that same answer. :D

I've considered giving out a candy alternative this year, so I'm looking into options that are affordable, safe for everyone, and somewhat healthier.

Our favorite Enjoy Life product is definitely the caramel apple snack bars -- especially this time of year. Yesterday we warmed them up a little in the microwave and smeared them with cream cheese and they were mmmmm mmmmm good!

I've fanned on Facebook, following here & twitter (you AND them) and my favorite Halloween costume? My senior year of high school I had the cutest french maid costume my mom made. What made it even better was that at the time I was working as a chamber maid for a local inn and after school I went in to work to show everyone and will never forget how much fun we all had over it!

So that's what ... 6 entries? :)

oooh! Ok first of all, the enjoy life candy bars helped me survive my last pregnancy, FOR REAL. Every single day I would dig the "dark chocolate" candy bars into a bucket of peanut butter, and eat eat eat eat eat. It was heaven, obviously. So the dark chocolate bars are my favorite, for nostalgias sake :)

I tried to add them on twitter, but that link didn't work?

I added YOU on twitter though, yay for new twitter friends.

I'm a follower of your blog too.

And, And- I'm going to be a kitty cat for halloween. My daughter is going to be tinkerbell, and my son is going to be peter pan. I made both of their costumes, so, I hope that trick or treating is a success!!

I do love all Enjoy Life products but my favorite has got to be their chocolate chips. Being allergic to soy as well as everything else, makes it difficult to find baking chocolate that won't make you mildly sick. But this doesn't! I'm using them in some cupcakes this weekend :)

I wish they sold their trail mix at my Whole Foods though...
